MATCH REVIEW: Selangor Suffers Narrow Defeat


IPOH - The first leg of Malaysia Cup 2019 saw Selangor suffers a narrow one-nil defeat against Perak at Stadium Perak, Ipoh just now.

Brendan Gan’s beautiful goal during the first half becomes the only thing that separates the two sides tonight.

Selangor made a minor change into the line-up tonight compare to the last game when head coach B.Satiananthan replaced K.Sarkunan with Latiff Suhaimi.

As soon as the first whistle being blown, Perak seems to dominate most of the game with registering few shots early in the first half.

Mehmet Durakovic's plan to play attacking football paid off when their talisman, Brendan Gan manage to find the opener in the 13th minute, with a half volley from outside the box to defeat Khairul Azhan after poor marking from Selangor’s defenders.

Shocked with the goal, Selangor tried to find the equalizer in the 23rd minute, however, chances created by Endrick Dos Santos failed to be converted by Khyril Muhymeen.

Into the second half, it was Selangor's time to bombards Perak’s goal and they managed to find few clear cut chances to get the equalizer but failed to capitalize.

Khairulazhan once again becomes the savior of Selangor when he single-handedly punched out Brendan Gan’s thunderous header in the 53rd minute.

Selangor’s best chance came on the 61st minute, however, Ifedayo Olusegun simple tap was blocked well by Hafizul Hakim.

The 1-0 scoreline did not change when the final whistle was blown and Selangor needed to accept the narrow defeat against Perak.
